Causes of Global Warming Also Produce Errors in Agricultural Temperature Measurements with Infrared Termometers
When making infrared temperature measurements out-of-doors, errors as large as 2.4C can be the result of sky or surrounding radiation. Plant leaves reflect approximately 2-4% of incident infrared radiation; normally this is a minor amount unless the radiative object is extremely cold, such as with sky conditions. Everest's Sky-Spy (U. S. Patent No. 4,420,265) corrects for errors caused by radiation to the sky. (PRWeb Jun 25, 2008)
